STICKY BUISNESS

Police tell driver to remove sick child kidnap sticker from pick-up truck after shocking motorists

Parents in Leeds campaigned for the terrifying transfer to be removed – and they got their wish when police tracked down the driver

This sick sticker showing a woman bound and gagged in a pick-up truck sparked fury online – and led to the owner receiving a visit from the police.
A mother walking in Leeds with her three-year-old child spotted the shocking sticker last weekend and reported it to cops before posting a picture on Twitter.
It led to a flurry of responses and calls for the image to be banned.
But those campaigning for the terrifying transfer to be removed were then targeted by trolls, with some receiving rape threats.
After a string of complaints regarding the sticker, police tracked down the owner.
Chief Inspector Steve Palmer, Leeds City Centre Commander, said: “We were contacted on Saturday by a caller raising concerns about a photographic image they had seen on the back of a pick-up truck in Leeds city centre which made it appear there was a female bound and gagged in the back of the truck.
“These concerns were also raised on social media which prompted a number of similar complaints to West Yorkshire Police.
“It was clear that a number of people had found the image offensive and had been alarmed and distressed by it being displayed in public.
“The registered keeper of the vehicle was traced and spoken to by officers and made aware of the concerns raised and the potential for the continued display of the image to be treated as a public order offence.
“They have agreed to have the image removed from the vehicle.”
