returning home, the mother said she was rushing some medication to
London for her mother who was flying out of the country.
She
claimed she initially intended to make the return journey on her own,
but suffered a panic attack and so was taken by her husband.
She
claimed her husband intended to get a train straight back to Devon, and
estimated they were only going to be away for five hours.

The boy was briefly taken into care by authorities and the couple were charged with child neglect.
Their
lawyer told the court the couple have since split up and now live in
different parts of the country. They share responsibility for the boy.
The
couple’s lawyer Caroline Salvatore told the court: ‘They were both
working in social care all their lives and both have lost their jobs and
are having to sell their house.
‘One misjudgment and they have lost everything – their son, their home, their jobs, and split up the family.
‘This
could not have more wrong. One bad misjudgment affected all their
lives. They have been punished quite severely for this error of
judgement.’
The
couple, both aged 50, admitted one charge of neglect of a child. They
were sentenced to a 12 month community order to carry out 100 hours of
unpaid work.
