Gay Tory MP claims Heath was warned over ‘cottaging’

A GAY Conservative politician last night claimed Ted Heath was told to stop “cottaging” prior to becoming prime minister.

Brian Coleman, a member of the London Assembly, suggested that the future premier had been warned that cruising for gay sex would harm his future political career.

Writing on the website of the New Statesman, he said: “The late Ted Heath managed to obtain the highest office of state after he was supposedly advised to cease his cottaging activities in the Fifties when he became a privy councillor.”

Mr Coleman claimed that it was “common knowledge” among Tories that the lifelong bachelor had received the warning.
