Nine-day-old baby dies in hospital after police called to Edinburgh home

THE newborn died shortly after being admitted to the Royal Hospital for
Sick Children after police were called to a house on the city’s Ferry
Road.

POLICE are investigating the death of a newborn baby who died in hospital after officers were called to an Edinburgh home.

Officers were called to a property on the city’s Ferry Road after a
“report of concern” for the nine-day-old boy yesterday morning.
He was taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children but nothing could be done to save him.

Police Scotland said an investigation into the baby’s death had been launched.
A
spokesperson said: “Police in Edinburgh were called to Ferry Road
around 9.50am on Wednesday October 12 following a report of concern for a
nine-day-old baby.
“The baby was taken to the sick kids hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
“Inquiries
into the full circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing and a
report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
