A Wirral granddad had disgusting conversations with a fellow pervert in Surrey about child sex abuse.

Alexander Dobbie described a young girl he knew as “a little cutie” and they discussed the sexual things they would like to do to the other man’s primary school age daughter.

The 59-year-old of Marlborough Grove, Oxton, was today given a suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to two offences of making indecent images and one of possessing them.

Christopher Hopkins, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court: “Their conversations took place between June 26 and November 1 last year and during the course of the conversations they discussed their sexual preferences and he (Dobbie) indicated he had a sexual interest in children.

“Dobbie said he was specifically interested in girls aged 13 and upwards and asked the man in Surrey to send him pictures. The man said he had mostly those of girls aged 11 – 12. The defendant told him he had a picture of an 11-year-old girl in leather.”

Mr Hopkins said that the other man was one of a large number of people interested in children engaging in sexual activity and discussing such sexual activity over the internet.

In April this year police investigations led to them discovering that one of the people he was discussing with was the defendant via his mobile phone.

Police officers went to his then home in Bromborough on May 15 and recovered a mobile phone from him and when it was later examined it was found to contain 88 indecent images of children, all but two in the least serious category.

Mr Hopkis said: “He was interviewed that day and described the conversations as stupid. He denied that there would be indecent images on the phone but there were.”

Bernice Campbell, defending, said that the offending behaviour had cost Dobbie his marriage and he had moved out of the marital home.

He added: “He works as a porter but will lose his job and accommodation. He does not know what the future holds.”

She said that Dobbie, who has no previous convictions, said that Dobbie had come across like minded people on the internet but is disgusted at his actions and very sorry.

Miss Campbell said: “It was a shock to him and he did not want to get involved and did not think about the consequences or the victims.”

She pointed out that although there was a suggestion he was going to send a photograph of the young child he knew to the other man he did not do so.

She said: “He has repeatedly said it will not happen again. He is apologetic to the court and the victims and has not looked at the internet since.”

Imposing a six month jail sentence suspended for two years Judge Anil Murray described his behaviour as “very serious and worrying.”

He said: “You accept you have had sexual thoughts about children and it seems your marriage has ended as a result of this offending. In my judgement these offences clearly cross the custodial threshold.”

The judge also ordered him to carry out 150 hours unpaid work; 25 days rehabilitation activities and attend a probation course. He ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same length of time restricting his internet use.
