A shamed teacher who had sex with her pupil has updated her Facebook status to ‘in a relationship’ with the teen. Eppie Sprung Dawson lost her job at St Joseph’s College in Dumfries after police caught her in a car with 17-year-old Matthew Robinson in 2012 The English teacher, who was 27 at the time, was convicted at Dumfries Sheriff Court of having sex with someone under 18 while in a position of trust and banned from teaching. But the former teacher who now calls herself Eppie Sprung got 27 ‘likes’ on Facebook when she announced the relationship with the now 19-year-old on social media.
The pair were caught having sex in the front seat of her car in a layby after she had driven the boy out to the countryside from a school dance that they had both attended. As well as being struck off from the teaching register, Sprung was placed on the sex offender register and ordered to receive counselling as part of a community payback order. The teenager’s mother Sheree Robinson previously said Sprung had been given little more than a “slap on the wrist, not a punishment”.

English teacher Eppie Sprung Dawson admitted to having sex with pupil
A TEACHER who was found half-naked in a layby with one of her teenage students has been struck off. Eppie Sprung Dawson admitted having sex with Matthew Robinson, who was 17 at the time. The 27-year-old was yesterday found unfit to teach at a General Teaching Council For Scotland hearing in Edinburgh. In a statement read out to the panel, the English teacher agreed to being struck off. She said: “On February 9, I was convicted at Dumfries Sheriff Court. “I was sentenced to a community payback order and made subject to the sex offenders’ register. “I readily and willingly consent to being removed and understand that I will be prohibited from teaching for a period of two years.” The panel referred Sprung Dawson to the Scottish Government to decide if she should be excluded from working with children or vulnerable adults. Sprung Dawson lost her job at St Joseph’s College in Dumfries and split with her husband Ranald Dawson after the scandal. Police caught her with Matthew – who has since turned 18 – on December 21, 2012, in a layby near Dumfries. The pair now live together in the town.
