DAVID SCOTTS LETTER TO MIKE RUSSEL

Dear Mr Russell,

I understand from reports in the press that your government is now minded to support the calls for a thorough, transparent and public inquiry into child sexual abuse in Scotland. I very much hope that this is true and that the obstruction previously shown by your colleague Mr MacAskill regarding this issue will no longer characterise your administration.

I must at this juncture highlight one case in particular; that of Hollie Greig. This case is the best known (internationally) child sexual abuse case in Scotland and has seen two justice protestors jailed for daring to raise this issue in public. It has seen, and continues to see, obstruction and obfuscation from the highest levels in the Crown office, police, judiciary and government. It must NOT be overlooked in any inquiry. You must decide  now that Hollie will get justice, as it is by this yardstick that the world will judge your inquiry and your government.

My Friend Robert Green, who is nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for those actions that to this day see him persecuted by the Scottish courts and judicial establishment has put the matter thus:

“Please confirm you will be looking into the extraordinary Hollie Greig case.
It has now been established that the former Lord Advocate, the Unionist Elish Angiolini has made false statements about her role in the case, thanks to the assistance of the Justice Secretary, Kenny MacAskill.
We urge you to make this a priority, owing to the likely continuing risk to children and the disabled in the Aberdeen area.”

I would like to add my own voice to this call. Justice must at long last be seen to be done, for Hollie and for the thousands who have suffered similar horrors.

Do not let us down.

Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known – Matthew 10:26
