Child rapist given ‘community sentence’ is jailed after having sex with 13-year-old in college grounds
The teen has been given a one-year sentence but it is backdated to when
he was taken into custody in June so he will be eligible for release
But the 17-year-old, who can’t be named for legal reasons, could be back on the streets in December.
teen has been given a one-year sentence, backdated to when he was taken
into custody in June, and will be eligible for release half-way
A sheriff told him custody was the only option because he “doesn’t appear to have learned” from his community sentence, The Daily Record reports.
The teen last year dodged jail for a sex offence against a 12-year-old committed when he was 14.
While free to roam, he told the 13-year-old girl he was “choking to go with her”.
He took her into the grounds of Dundee and Angus College, in Dundee, and had sex with her.
The girl told her mother what happened and then told a counsellor, who called police.
The youth admitted a charge under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act.
Dundee Sheriff Alastair Carmichael put him of the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
He told the youth: “No other method than custody is appropriate.”
