A sex offender has been jailed for eight years after being found guilty of abusing a young boy.

Tony Apps, 52, from Radwell Drive, near Little Horton Lane, in Bradford city centre, committed multiple offences against his victim during the early 90s when he lived in Kent.

The man affected by Apps’ abuse came forward in 2016 and told police what he had been subjected to.

Apps was arrested in Bradford by West Yorkshire Police in October 2016 on behalf of Kent Police and subsequently charged with numerous offences.

He denied the charges only to be found guilty by a jury at CanterburyCrown Court. He was convicted of indecent assault and three counts of indecency with a child and sentenced to eight years in prison.

Apps will serve an additional two years on licence upon his release.

Investigating officer PC Helen Press said: “His victim has suffered physical and emotional damage, which has affected his life terribly since the 90s. It finally got to a point where he felt angry about what he had been subjected to and bravely reported Apps to us.

“Thanks to his courage, this man has now been convicted for his abhorrent crimes.
