Revealed: 86 men and women in Staffordshire jailed for child sex offences in ONE year (and here are some of the perverts)
None of the offenders received life sentences.
Shocking figures have revealed 86 men and two women were jailed for child sex offences in just one year.
The figures do not show the number of criminals who received non-custodial sentences for child sexual crimes.
However, separate Ministry of Justice figures show that, nationally, 98 per cent of all sex offenders are men.
The new sentencing data shows four of the offenders sentenced at the courts in 2017 were sent to prison for at least 10 years – although there were no life sentences.
Experts say that male entitlement and the objectification of the powerless is behind the vast number of offences.
A spokesperson for charity The Lucy Faithfull Foundation said: “One is left with the very clear sense that there is something obvious and disturbing about the connection between masculinity and sex crimes.
“A male view of entitlement, aggressive sexual conduct, and objectification of the powerless seem to be driving it.”

Andrew Fellows, public affairs manager for the NSPCC, added: “We need to better understand the reasons adults sexually abuse children, and in particular why men are so far more likely to commit these types of crimes.
“What is clear is the need for us to do everything we can to keep our children safe, which is why the NSPCC is committed to visiting every primary school in the UK every three years with its ‘Speak out Stay safe’ programme, which is specifically designed to encourage children to seek help if they ever feel like something is wrong.”
Stoke-on-Trent North MP Ruth Smeeth says the most vulnerable people in society need protecting from attackers.
She said: “There is no worse crime than a sexual attack on a vulnerable member of our society and the fact these people have been incarcerated is a good thing.
“The onus is on all of us to protect the vulnerable, especially young children, so we have to encourage people to come forward about any concerns they have and ensure that when someone does, we protect the child and prosecute the perpetrator.”
In total there were 1,174 registered sex offenders living in Staffordshire in the year ending March 2018. That was around three per cent higher than the national average.
