About

40+ years in TV production, I’m also an ex-Lecturer in TV and Multimedia; spent about a dozen years at the ‘chalk face’. My background is in news; qualified as an ENG cameraman back in the 80s and long-since moved on to management. Bread-and-butter wise, I’ve run a production company for over 33 years now.

Real-world, credible professionals ARE very welcome to ‘reach out’ and connect, especially if we know each other 𝐁𝐔𝐓…

After 25+ years using the internet and well over 30 ‘online’, the dishonest, deluded, infantile nature of modern social media bores me! I only really have a profile here because people think you’ve retired or died if you don’t! “Digital generation”? “New” media? – Rubbish! That boat sailed decades ago kiddies! And too often these days it’s like watching bairns play dressing-up games in a tenement close!

The online ‘digital’ world isn’t new nor innovative! And in business networking terms, it’s far-less-useful than it used to be! What 𝘸𝘢𝘴 promising a quarter century ago is now a sad infantilised idiocracy. Ever seen ‘Toy Story’ – that bit where the little three-eyed rubber guys worship ‘The Claw’?

LinkedIn is particularly degenerated, and certainly not the serious professional platform it claims to be! It’s badly run, easily hacked (I’ve had 3 old accounts hijacked), sells utter bunk and snake oil in its own right and is not credibly policed. In particular, it promotes and enables many fakes and Charlatans.

Business bunk has of course been around as far back as I remember and it wasn’t new then! – I’ve ZERO patience for all that ‘influencer’ tripe and the brainless, ‘everything is wonderful’, ‘don’t be negative’ rhetoric of wannabe ‘leedahs’ to the sheeple… NLP shysters particularly boil my blood! In reality, what the dishonest fear and label as ‘negativity’ is usually plain-spoken truth and common sense! I say call out those naked Emperors! Don’t enable them!

I have a particular contempt for Contrepreneur ‘Tarts’ (of either sex) that claim professional titles they have no legitimate right to! Charlatans who will pretend to be anything for anybody any time! Non-trained fakers claiming to be ‘digital this’ and ‘digital that’. Snake oil sellers pushing dangerous toxins to a claque etc. – I’ll happily rip imposters a new one, just for the sport!

Cynical? Rude? – Moi? No! – Just nobody’s fool and unfashionably rational! – I’m not interested in ‘stats’ or irrelevant connections and rarely send out invites. Recruiters – you REALLY can’t afford me! And those weird creepy anonymous viewers (stalkers) can just eff-off!

No hard sell needed here! Caledonian TV™ provide a long-established professional service. We make video for grown-ups who know that if you’re to be taken seriously in business, ‘webcam licking’ like a daft child or silly conspiracy theorist 𝘫𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘯𝘢𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘵!

There are rules, regulations, standards and even laws to be complied with when making a business video. Currently, about 45% of the new business I see is from those that have fallen foul of these, through hiring one of the ‘jack of all trades’ fake-creatives that infest the scene at the moment – sucked in by the hubris and razzmatazz…

So, I’m happy to explain that being legitimate specialists, we don’t run a crèche for adults that forgot to grow up! No ‘free’ bar, no cup cakes… We employ no ‘Space Cadets’ (former or otherwise) and don’t just shove you half-drunk into a green-painted broom cupboard to make an elevator pitch – nor do we try to upsell rubbish like overpriced hosting or bad web design!

We only use crew who have successfully studied TV or Film production at a real UK Academic Institution and/or trained with a major UK broadcaster. We use real TV cameras (NOT DSLRs!) – edit on dedicated edit suites (not toy laptops) and work to broadcast standards, in HD of course!

Digital Transformation? – That was decades ago! – We made our first corporate in 1986, put our first online video up in 1997, shot our last analogue programme in 1999 and moved fully to HD in 2007!

To protect your business interests all programmes are project managed to professional standards. We use the same ISO 9001 compliant operational procedures used in broadcast to provide both quality control and traceability. We particularly ensure copyright and legal compliance is properly dealt with, and work to the AS-11 technical standards required by UK and European broadcasters for topical content in HD.

In 2000 I was invited to lecture in Multimedia and TV production – which I did, proudly, for a dozen or so years, 2-3 days a week at the legendary Stow College Music and Creative Industries department… The place that helped give the world Snow Patrol, Biffy Clyro and a few others.

I resigned in 2012 because the politics of the place had become dishonest and destructive; we’d gone from world-beaters to a pathetic, shadow of what we had been! Posh-pals prevailed, classism was rife, as was bullying and injelitance… The writing was on the wall for Stow College anyway – the political claque at Holyrood had it in for the place for years! And it finally closed in 2013 – destroyed by the Scottish Government’s sick obsession with the ‘tail’ of vacuous statistics wagging the ‘dog’ of function!

I loved my time at the chalk face – it was a real privilege to have the opportunity to pass my skills on to the next generation… But I seriously doubt if wild horses could drag me back to that world now.

The Scottish Education system is left in a shameful state – and I cannot endorse that in any way. I’m not the sort of bloke who sits there quietly and lets ‘those who can’t’ wallow in their damaging delusions! 😠

ANIMALS SEIZED Three men arrested over ‘bestiality ring’ in Scotland as police probe snaps of humans having sex with horses

COPS have arrested three men and seized farm animals as part of a probe into a suspected Scotland-wide bestiality ring.

An undercover operation was launched after horrifying snaps of humans having sex with horses and ponies were sent to officers and the Scottish SPCA.

Three suspects — Josh Paterson, 19, Jordan Turnbull, 27, and Mark Findlater, 32 — are due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court this week.

The alleged sexual offences are said to have been committed in Aberdeenshire and Angus last month.

A source said: “The Scottish SPCA and police were alerted by a tip-off and an investigation was launched.”

Several animals were removed by welfare chiefs following searches of farms and stables.

A cop spokeswoman confirmed three men had been arrested.

She added: “A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

A Scottish SPCA special investigations unit undercover inspector added: “We can confirm we assisted Police Scotland in this case.

“As this is an ongoing investigation, we are unable to comment further at this time.”

(AP Photo/Rafael Yaghobzadeh) Roman Polanski won France’s Cesar Award for best directing for his film ‘An Officer and a Spy’, prompting a walkout by several women in the audience in protest at honouring a man facing rape accusations.

The ceremony took place in Paris on Friday amid protests by women’s rights activists as director Roman Polanski was awarded, in his absence, the best director award for his latest film.

Polanski decided to skip the Cesar awards ceremony because of protests by women’s groups denouncing the 12 nominations ‘An Officer and a Spy’ received after a French woman brought a new rape accusation against him.

Actress Adele Haenel, who recently denounced alleged sexual assault by another French director in the early 2000s when she was 15, got up and walked out of the room, followed by a few others.

‘Distinguishing Polanski is spitting in the face of all victims. It means raping women isn’t that bad,’ Haenel told the New York Times earlier this week.

The film’s cast and production team, including best actor nominee Jean Dujardin, also declined to attend the ceremony. Dujardin posted a message on Instagram that said, ‘By making this film, I believed and I still believe I made more good than harm.’

Polanski’s film won two other awards for best costume design and best adaptation. No one came on stage to accept the trophies awarded to ‘An Officer and a Spy.’

The show’s host, comedian Florence Foresti, left Polanski’s film out of her opening remarks when she mentioned the ones with multiple nominations.

‘I decided that Atchoum would not be big enough to overshadow the French cinema,’ she said.

The Cesar for best film has been awarded to ‘Les Miserables,’ Ladj Ly’s Oscar candidate, about tensions between police and minorities in a poor Paris suburb. The film won the Jury Price in Cannes Film Festival last year.

The entire male-dominated leadership of the Cesar stepped down recently amid disagreement over its decision-making structure and how to deal with the Polanski problem.

A few hundred protesters brandishing signs with phrases such as ‘Victims, we believe you’ and ‘No to impunity’ assembled outside the Salle Pleyel hall before the ceremony started.

The group chanted, ‘We are here, we are here, even if Polanski doesn’t want to, we are here.’

‘By supporting the aggressors, by celebrating the aggressors, one does not allow the victims to speak out. Their word is denied,’ Celine Piques of women’s activist group Osez le Feminisme said

In a statement this week, the Paris-based Polanski said the ceremony was turning into a ‘public lynching’ and that he decided not to attend the ceremony to protect his colleagues and his wife and children.

Polanski is still wanted in the United States decades after he was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977. He pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor but fled the country on the eve of sentencing.

Last year, a woman came forward to accuse Polanski of raping her in 1975 in his Swiss chalet when she was 18. Polanski denied it, and the allegations are too old for an investigation.

‘Is it normal for a man to rape and then 30 years later to be a star in popular cultures? No, it’s not normal, and a rapist should be in prison,’ another Osez le Feminisme activist, Fabienne El Khouri, said.

‘An Officer and a Spy’ is about the anti-Semitic persecution of French army Capt. Alfred Dreyfus and his wrongful treason conviction in the 1890s. It is among the best film nominees. Polanski has nominations for best adaptation and best director.

‘ABUSE NETWORK’

Scots cops launch probe into cross-border ‘football paedo ring’ due to ‘substantive’ new evidence

POLICE SCOTLAND have launched a probe into an alleged ‘football paedo ring’.

The investigation comes after claims that notorious predators worked together in an abuse network to prey on young footballers.

Earlier this week the Independent Review into Sexual Abuse within Scottish Football confirmed new “substantive’ evidence of an organised cross-border abuse network.

The Times published allegations that former Manchester City scout Barry Bennell and ex-Celtic kitman and boy’s club coach Jim McCafferty were part of the ring.

One abuse victim, Malcolm Rodger claims he was abused separately by McCafferty and Bennell after being introduced to them by his former coach at Uphall Saints Bill Kelly.

Bennell, 66, was sentenced to a 31-year prison stay for 50 charges of child sex abuse, while McCafferty, 74, was jailed for molesting child footballers for over 24 years.

Kelly, 84, admitted abusing 12 boys in a 22-year spell but only spent a year behind bars when he was sentenced in 1987.

Police Scotland have now confirmed investigations are ongoing but at an ‘early stage’.

Detective chief inspector Laura Carnochan, head of the force’s national child abuse investigation unit, said: “We would like to assure anyone who has been a victim of child abuse, or knows of someone who has been a victim, that if they wish to report we will listen and we will investigate, and will take prompt action to ensure that no one else is at risk of harm.”

Mr Rodger, 49, from Glasgow says he suffered two years of abuse in the 1980s while playing in Scotland, England and Spain.

The decorated serviceman, who served in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and during the first Gulf War claims Kelly and McCafferty abused him together on numerous occasions, and Kelly introduced him to Bennell on a trip to Blackpool.

Speaking to The Times, Mr Rodger said: “Kelly told me he was lead scout for Crewe and his name was Barry Bennell.

“He said that if I showed my ‘appreciation’ then he could open doors and get me noticed.

“Kelly introduced me to Bennell for a second time and basically stood and watched guard as he abused me.”

Martin Henry, chairman of the independent review, confirmed his inquiry had heard claims which suggest notorious abusers in Scotland and England were working together.

He said: “These have been passed to the English FA inquiry and they’ve also been reported to the police.”

Kelly, a former secretary of the West Lothian Association of Youth Football Clubs, denies any connection with Bennell or McCafferty.
