CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A former West Virginia Child Protective Services worker accused of having sex with a 16-year-old boy was sentenced Wednesday in Kanawha County Circuit Court.
Kara Brumley was sentenced to two concurrent 10 to 20 year prison terms.
In October, Brumley pleaded guilty to two counts of felony abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person in position of trust, which carries a sentence of 10 to 20 years for each offense or fine of not less than $500 or not more than $5,000 or both.
Brumley is accused of having sexual intercourse with a minor that she was working with as a social worker between April and May 2014.
During the sentencing, a parent of the juvinille victim said, “we have no trust in dealing with the DHHR.”
Brumley told authorities she was closer to the 16-year-old boy than any of her other clients.
